New PushPull connectors are ideal for wide range of cameras and sensors

They can be loaded with up to 2 amps per contact which is more than enough for camera technology and to power various types of sensors. Using a joint cable to supply both power and effect signal transmission saves additional wiring – and therefore costs – for the customer.

Kevin Canham, Product Manager at HARTING UK, said; “These new PushPull 20-pin connectors are HARTING’s answer to market pressure for signal transmission and miniaturisation requirements. By providing twice as many connections as previous models within the same physical dimensions, and transmitting both signals and power over the same cable, users can simplify installations. These connectors save space, reduce complexity and increase reliability.”

Controllers and control units in an industrial plant are equipped with all types of sensors. They measure temperature, colour, shape, weight, size, pressure, and much more. All these sensors must be capable of reliably transmitting their signals to a central control unit concurrently. In order to make a system more cost-effective and efficient, it often makes sense to provide power to control measurement instruments over the same cable over which signals are sent.

In CCTV and security installations, as well as video and audio-visual production environments, the same demands apply. There is a need to simplify connections, make them more robust and save both space and cost.

A signal connector like the new PushPull 20-pole in an industrial environment is robust, easy to handle and can be adapted to customer requirements. HARTING’s new PushPull V4 20-pin version is an ideal solution for all combinations of bus and signal data.

M12 Power Connector

Phoenix Contact has expanded its M12 Power connector range for power transmission in industrial environments with two S-coded flush-type connectors.

They have two positions and a protective conductor (2+PE) and are pre-assembled with 0.5 m long litz wires. With a conductor cross section of 1.5 mm², the circular connectors are approved for a rated current of 16 A as well as a rated voltage of 630 V. The plug is suitable for use as a mains voltage connector, for example, with IP67 protection and the robust M16 X 1.5 metal thread.

The compact flush-type connectors are available in pin and socket versions for front and rear mounting.

Han-Compact

HARTING has extended its Han-Compact series of industrial connector hoods with a plastic version featuring combined straight and lateral cable outlets.

The new hood offers increased flexibility in mounting arrangements as well as easier ordering and logistics procedures for the customer since only one type number need be used for several different applications.

Designed for use with a cable clamp of size M20, the new Han-Compact hood is supplied with both cable outlets closed. Simply turning the cable clamp between the straight and/or lateral options opens the corresponding cable outlet.

When used in combination with HARTING’s Han Q connector family with Quick Lock connection technology, the new housing is ideally suited for field installation.

The new hood is suitable for all contact inserts from HARTING’s Han-Compact range. In the closed condition it meets the requirements of protection class IP 65 in accordance with DIN EN 60 529 and the flammability class V 0 in accordance with UL 94. The application temperature range is between -40°C and +125°C.

Harting Han PushPull Power 4.0

HARTING has extended its established PushPull connector family with a new panel feed-through component in robust plastic for mounting the Han® PushPull Power 4.0 connector in round panel cutouts with IP65/67 protection class. The round panel feed-throughs can be screwed into wall openings with M25 threads or mounted in circular wall openings with a diameter of 25 mm.

Round panel feed-throughs offer decisive advantages in situations where existing devices require a quick and simple conversion of a (non-pluggable) cable entry into a pluggable energy supply entry, while at the same time avoiding mechanical reworking of the housing wall.

In addition, round panel feed-throughs with PushPull locking offer advantages where an additional interface is required for an existing housing. In many cases the production of a round wall cutout requires less work.

The Han® PushPull Power 4.0 connector is suitable for power transfer at ratings of up to 690 V and 16 A. Wire gauges from 0.25 mm² to 2.5 mm² can be connected either without tools, using HARTING’s Han®-Quick Lock rapid termination technique, or with crimp technology. Five contacts are available in each insulated insert.

The connectors can be coded without loss of poles, in order to avoid faulty mating or confusion between several connectors. Further accessories include IP65/67 protective caps.

Slimline M12 connector with rapid termination

The new field-installable 8-pin M12 connector is the latest addition to HARTING’s family of products for Gigabit Ethernet applications, and is intended for scenarios in automation technology where a cable needs to be attached quickly or adapted on site.

In particular, the insulation displacement contact is designed to ensure an uninterrupted connection performance by maintaining the twisting of the STP cable for as long as possible when it is drawn deep into the mating face.

M12 Connector with protective conduit

The new “M12 with conduit” solution offers IP protection class 65/67, and can be readily applied in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. In addition, the standard housing now accommodates plastic tubing of a nominal 10 mm width, providing customers with the option of adding further protection by simply fitting a plastic tube.

The connector and the associated cable are joined with a reliable crimping method, and can be supplied either in 4-pole (d-coding) or 5-pole (a-coding) configurations, both as plug or socket. In order to achieve the corresponding protection classes and provide strain relief, seals for various cable diameters from 4.5 to 8.8 mm are included in the package.

Harting har-flex THR variants

In response to market demand for connectors for increasingly smaller, decentralised control and drive technology, Harting has introduced har-flex THR variants designed to meet the demands of harsh industrial conditions. These new connectors also achieve new levels of industrial-grade miniaturisation without decreasing reliability.

Connectors employed in electronics act as an interface between two printed circuit boards and must therefore be able to bear high mechanical stress. This is precisely what Harting has focussed on in the development of the har-flex THR variants. These new connectors provide a miniaturised contact pitch of 1.27mm while also ensuring an extremely stable connection to the PCB.

THR stands for ‘through hole reflow’ and describes the termination technology using binders attached laterally (soldering studs). This makes them extremely well suited to demanding mechanical applications which previously required larger connectors. SMT signal contacts soldered onto the surface ensure continued flexible separation of the conductor tracks within the circuit board and makes them usable on both sides.

Finally, to help further increase versatility and cost effectiveness, the new har-flex THR variants make use of tape and reel packaging and reflow soldering to allow easy integration into automatic assembly processes.

Harting Han® ES Press contact inserts

HARTING has announced the introduction of its new Han® ES Press contact inserts with tool-free quick connection technology. These new inserts significantly reduce assembly time during wiring. In addition, jumpers offer the possibility of potential multiplication in the connector.

The secret of the design lies in the innovative cage clamp. The Han® ES Press’s cage clamp is delivered open so that the conductor can be inserted directly and without effort. Once the installer presses the actuator into the contact chamber, the cage clamp returns to its starting position, fixing the conductor end so that the conductor is electrically connected to the contact. This connection technique permits faster termination during wiring.

The Han® ES Press is also the first product in the Han E® product family that enables bridging of individual contacts for potential multiplication. Various longitudinal and transverse bridges are available, which for example, also enable star and delta circuits for motor control.

With a current capacity of 16A, the Han® ES Press is available in models 6, 10, 16 and 24 for housing sizes Han® 6 B, 10 B 16 B and 24 B. The contact inserts are mating compatible with the corresponding inserts in the Han® E, ES and ESS series. The cage clamps used are suitable for wire cross-sections between 0.14mm2 and 2.5mm2 and can be used with both solid and stranded wires (with or without ferrules).

Harting M12 PFT Slim Design

Harting has added a new space-saving female panel feed through (PFT) with a PushPull locking mechanism to its range of M12 connectors, making it easier to connect Fast Ethernet and 10 Gbit/s Ethernet cables in applications where space is limited.

The new M12 PFT Slim Design, available with D and X coding, is compatible with both Harting M12 PushPull connectors and the standard M12 devices with the familiar screw fitting. This compatibility gives users the option to continue to use existing connections or to upgrade to new M12 connectors with PushPull locking without having to change the device connection.

The panel feed through is exclusively available with a crimp connection that is easy to assemble in the field, is protected to the IP65/67 standard and is suitable for harsh ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to +85°C. It incorporates a new 360° shield concept which provides protection against electromagnetic interference.

The X-coded version delivers transmission rates up to 10 Gbit/s, ideal for demanding industrial applications.
